Skou ‘n belangrike ekonomiese inspuiting vir George

George (3 Februarie) –  Die Suid-Kaap Oumotorklub se  jaarlikse George Oumotorskou wat op  14 en 15 Februarie aangebied word,  is ‘n belangrike ekonomiese inspuiting vir die dorp.

“Die meer as 11 000 besoekers wat jaarliks die George Ou Motorskou bywoon,  dra nie net by tot die ontwikkel van die George Toerismebedryf nie, maar lewer ook ‘n belangrike finansiële bydrae tot ons dorp se ontwikkeling en daarom lewer die George Munisipaliteit sy steun aan hierdie geleentheid,” sê rhr Charles Standers, burgemeester van George. “Die skou skep ook werksgeleenthede wat bydra tot volhoubare maatskaplike transformasie.”

2014 London to Brighton Veteran Run

London to Brighton 2014For thousands of motoring aficionados the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is one of the highlights of the year. The  route from Hyde Park Corner to Madeira Drive is thronged by many clubs, associations, individuals and families who turn  out to celebrate this hardy perennial treat.

In 1896 the first run from the Metropole Hotel in London to the Metropole Hotel in Brighton was a celebration of new-  found freedom for motorists, granted by the 'Locomotives on the Highway Act', which raised the speed limit of  automobiles to 14mph and abolished the requirement for these vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot carrying a flag  of warning.
